We spent a weekend sat-mon at this hotel while visiting Sapporo on business travel. Since we do not typically go to Japan we decided to splurge and book a suite package at this hotel.
Our room was on the 7th floor overlooking a Japanese garden with waterfall. It was indeed a suite with three different rooms including a sitting room overlooking the garden, with small sofa and chairs, and two traditional tatami mat rooms, one with a window that has traditional Japanese screen coverings.
The rooms are arranged linearly so there is not much privacy for a larger group of people. It seemed that the water for the tub was tap water rather than spring water. The toilet room is very small although it contains a modern electronic toilet with bidet function. The toilet room smelled a bit; I think they could have done a better job cleaning that room. The rest of the room was very clean and had no smoke odor. The room comes with a stocked fridge although it is mostly just drinks and largely alcoholic drinks.
One can pay less for drinks by going to the store in the hotel. Our room was very very quiet the entire stay. All traditional clothing is provided by the hotel All traditional clothing is provided by the hotel. We are large and tall so we had to request larger yukata and special large shoes. These were brought right away and they did fit us. Although we were offered socks with toes we eventually chose to wear our traveling mocassins around the hotel rather than the provided shoes because the mocassins are more comfortable.
The main sitting area of the room has a low Japanese table and chairs with cushions. We found these not as comfortable as sitting on the futon or on the sofa in the sunroom. Around dinner time they come to the room and move the living room table and set up futons for sleep. These are pallet style mattresses with down comforters and Japanese style pillows. The beds were surprisingly comfortable given that they were on the floor. We slept well all-told.
